How to manage self-motivated and highly intelligent workers

David Tuffley posted on the World Economic Forum an interesting article on how to manage employees that are thriving through autonomy and are highly intelligent. I believe that the suggested set of behaviours to manage these workers are quite universal in how a good manager should empower their employees.

Two points stand out for me: first, it’s about having and being able to share an inspiring vision. Often due to lack of time, we jump into action for a new project, a new year, a new job without thinking what does success look like. Being able to craft it and then communicate it to have employee adhere to it is crucial for the engagement of your employees.

The second point is about integrity. At the end of the day, no matter how much work is put in building a culture, the behaviours displayed at the top will be re-produced.
